Member Spotlight: How Rachel Torres Built a 7-Figure Polyurea Business
This month we’re highlighting PolyOrgs member Rachel Torres, founder of Torres Industrial Coatings in Phoenix, Arizona. Rachel joined PolyOrgs in 2022 as a solo applicator and has grown her operation to a 12-person team serving the Southwest’s industrial, agricultural, and municipal markets.
From Conventional Painting to Polyurea Specialist
“I was doing conventional painting and epoxy work, but I kept seeing polyurea jobs that blew my mind — the durability, the speed, the quality,” Rachel says. “I invested in my first proportioner and joined PolyOrgs to get the training and connections I needed to do it right.”
Within her first year, Rachel completed her PolyOrgs Certified Applicator designation and landed a secondary containment contract for a petroleum storage facility — a project outside her reach before the network and technical knowledge PolyOrgs provided.
Specialty Niche: Agricultural & Water Infrastructure
Torres Industrial Coatings has built a reputation in agricultural tank linings and municipal water infrastructure. “The municipalities love polyurea because it’s NSF 61-certifiable, fast-curing, and lasts 20+ years without recoating,” Rachel explains. Her team recently completed lining 14 concrete irrigation reservoirs for an Arizona agricultural cooperative — a contract valued at over $380,000.
Advice for New Members
“Show up to every training, every meeting. Ask questions even when you feel like you should already know the answer. This industry rewards people who are serious about learning, and PolyOrgs is the best resource I’ve found for that.”
Rachel will be presenting on “Winning Municipal Contracts with Polyurea” at the PolyOrgs annual summit in October 2026.
