May 2026 Chapter Meeting Recap: Safety Standards & Spray Techniques

The PolyOrgs May chapter meeting brought together 47 certified applicators, equipment suppliers, and industry educators from across the region at the Houston Training Center. The session was led by chapter president Dr. Marcus Webb.

New SPFA Safety Protocol Updates

Safety Committee Chair Lisa Moreno presented updated respiratory protection guidelines for enclosed-space polyurea application. Key updates include mandatory air-monitoring during all enclosed-space jobs exceeding 500 square feet, upgraded PPE requirements for isocyanate-heavy formulations, and a new buddy-system protocol for underground cistern liner work.

Spray Technique Roundtable

Senior applicator Terrence Hull led a live demo on dialing in transfer efficiency on plural-component proportioners in cold weather. Members shared field-tested solutions for managing reactivity issues below 50°F.
