Weekly Industry Digest — June 9–13, 2026: Infrastructure Spending, New SPFA Guidelines & Expo Recap
Here’s your weekly roundup of what moved the needle in the polyurea and protective coatings industry. Curated by the PolyOrgs editorial team every Friday.
Infrastructure Bill Creates New Polyurea Demand
The federal infrastructure package moving through committee includes language that could directly benefit polyurea applicators in the bridge deck, culvert lining, and water infrastructure segments. Industry watchers suggest the secondary coating market alone could generate over $200M in project activity by 2028. We’ll have a full analysis in next month’s newsletter.
SPFA Releases Updated Spray Application Guidelines
The Spray Polyurethane Foam Alliance published revisions to its best-practices guide, including new sections on vapor management during indoor applications. Members working in commercial roofing or cold-storage should review the changes. A summary will be discussed at the July chapter meetings.
Southwest Expo Recap
PolyOrgs members were well-represented at the Southwest Industrial Coatings Expo. The polyurea demo booth drew the largest crowd on Day 2 — applicators from Arizona, New Mexico, and Nevada showcased comparative adhesion tests live. Several attendees have already inquired about certification enrollment.
New Technical Research Worth Reading
A peer-reviewed paper on elongation-at-break performance in aliphatic polyurea systems under UV exposure found that properly formulated aliphatic systems retained 94% tensile performance after 2,000 hours of accelerated weathering. Especially relevant for rooftop and exterior applications. See our Technical Articles library for related reading.
